ARCAM

El Architecture Center Amsterdam (ARCAM) está situado en la costa Oosterdok (cerca del centro de ciencias NEMO diseñado por Renzo Piano) y fue diseñado por el arquitecto René Van Zuuk y terminado en 2003.

El edificio es un hito singular debido a su forma escultural, la fachada principal se dobla hasta convertirse en el techo debido a la aplicación de una membrana KalZip . Este método de plegado es ideal para crear superficies metalicas curvas con formas singulares.

A pesar de sus reducidas dimensiones todas las fachadas tienen su propia perspectiva. Por ejemplo, el plegado de piel combinada con la fachada de cristal biselado da lugar a una espectacular entrada. Por otra parte, el lado este muestra una vista más austero. La vista al mar revela el alma del pabellón a través de la cortina de cristal, mostrando apenas la estructura de acero.

The Architecture Center Amsterdam (ARCAM) is located in Oosterdok (close to NEMO science center designed by Renzo Piano) and it was designed by the architect Rene Van Zuuk and completed in 2003.

The building is a peculiar landmark due to its sculptural shape, the main façade is folded into the roof due to the application of the KalZip skin. This folded seam method is ideal for creating metallic curved surfaces with a singular form.

Despite its small dimensions all the different facades have their own distinctive perspective. For example the folded skin combined with the bevelling glass facade results in a spectacular entrance. On the other hand the east side displays a most austere view. The waterfront view reveals the soul of the pavilion through the curtain glass, barely showing the structural steelwork.

TU Delft 2009

El próximo 13 de mayo marcará el primer aniversario de la destrucción de la Facultad de Arquitectura (bouwkunde) de la Universidad Tecnológica de Delft (TU Delft) en un incendio el año pasado. La pérdida del edificio diseñado por el arquitecto Van den Broek desencadenó en el lanzamiento de un concurso internacional de ideas para invitar a un nuevo edificio.

El jurado anunció el 14 de marzo de 2009 los ganadores del concurso internacional para la Construcción bouwkunde. Hubo tres ganadores ex aequo quienes recibieron los premios durante una ceremonia en el Instituto Neerlandés de Arquitectura (NAi) en Rotterdam. Todas las entradas de la competencia y los resultados del grupo de reflexión son parte de una exposición en el NAi. La exposición se puede visitar desde el 15 de marzo hasta el 7 de junio de 2009.

Next 13 May will mark the first anniversary of the destruction of the Faculty of Architecture (Bouwkunde) of the Technological University Delft (TU Delft) in a fire last year. The loss of the building designed by the architect Van den Broek triggered the launching of an international competition inviting ideas for a new building.

The jury announced on 14 March 2009 the winners of the international competition Building for Bouwkunde. There was three winners in ex aequo who received the prizes during an award ceremony at the Netherlands Architecture Institute (NAi) in Rotterdam. All entries of the competition and the results of the Think Tank are part of an exhibition in the NAi. The exhibition can be visited from 15 March until 7 June 2009.

Erick van Egeraat

Erick van Egeraat se graduó del Departamento de Arquitectura de la Universidad Técnica de Delft con mención de honor en 1984 y fue el co-fundador de Mecanoo - Los renombrados arquitectos vanguardistas.

En 1995, estableció (EEA) Erick van Egeraat arquitectos asociados y después de más de 10 años de exitosa práctica, EEA ahora tiene oficinas en Londres, Moscú, Praga, Budapest y Rotterdam, empleando a más de 140 profesionales permanentes.

*Erick van Egeraat is a graduated from the Technical University of Delft Department of Architecture with honourable mention in 1984 and was the co-founder of Mecanoo – the renowned avant-garde architects.

In 1995, he established (EEA) Erick van Egeraat associated architects and after more than 10 years of successful practice EEA now has offices in London, Moscow, Prague, Budapest and Rotterdam and employs more than 140 permanent professionals.

Nox

Nox es un estudio de arquitectura holandés con sede en Rótterdam, dirigido por Lars Spuybroek.

Desde la graduación de Spuybroek de la Technical University Delft en 1989 ha investigado acerca de los nuevos medios de generar arquitectura, experiementando generalmente con el uso del ordenador.

Nox entra a la escena arquitectónica internacional con el Water Pavillion en la isla de Neeltje Jans, la cual Charles Jencks calificó la obra en su libro The New Paradigm of Architecture como "Aún no superado".

Spuybroek ha sido co-editor de las publicaciones NOX y FORUM. Dirige el departamento de Diseño Digital de la Universidad de Kassel, Alemania. En el 2004, ha publicado la obra Machining Architecture en colaboración con otros artistas. Ha recibido numerosos premios internacionales como Zeeuwse Architectuurprijs, 1998; Lakov Chernikov Award, 1997; Mart Stam, 1991; Archiprix, 1989.
