La Universidad de Nottingham abrio un nuevo campus en Ningbo, en el corazón del distrito de Zhijiang. El Centro de Tecnologías de la Energía Sostenible (CSET) se centra en la difusión de las tecnologías sostenibles como la energía solar, fotovoltaica, eólica, etc. Los 1.300 m2 de construcción se adaptarán a un centro de visitantes, laboratorios de investigación y aulas para cursos de máster.El edificio está inspirado en las tradicionales lámparas chinas y biombos de madera. El diseño emplea diversas estrategias ambientales: Una gran apertura de la azotea, trae la luz natural a todas las plantas del edificio, al mismo tiempo la creación de un cañón para permitir la ventilación natural y eficiente de la energía geotérmica se utiliza para enfriar y calentar el suelo losas.
La fachada se pliega de manera espectacular para crear una forma dinámica. El edificio está totalmente revestido con una doble piel de vidrio con pantalla impresa que evoca patrones históricos edificios de la zona. La aparición de cambios en la construcción del día a la noche.
The University of Nottingham opened a new campus in Ningbo, in the heart of the Zhijiang. The Center for Sustainable Energy Technologies (CSET) focuses on the diffusion of sustainable technologies such as solar, photovoltaic, wind, etc.. The 1300 m2 building will be tailored to a visitor center, research laboratories and classrooms for masters courses.
The building is inspired by Chinese lanterns and traditional wooden screens. The design employs several environmental strategies: A large rooftop opening brings natural light to all floors of the building, while creating a canyon to allow natural ventilation and efficient geothermal energy is used for cooling and heating floor slabs.
The façade folds dramatically to create a dynamic form. The building is fully lined with a double skin of glass screen printed patterns evoking historical buildings in the area. The appearance of the building changes from day to night.
