New Design for VanDusen Botanical Garden

El Jardín Botánico VanDusen, un hito de Vancouver creado hace más de 30 años, está siendo rediseñado por el selecto equipo de diseño Busby Perkins + Will, en conjunto con la internacionalmente renombrada arquitecto paisajista Cornelia Hahn Oberlander para desarrollar un Plan Maestro para el Jardín.

El nuevo diseño de las instalaciones Jardín Botánico VanDusen será armonioso y fluido el paisaje además de tratar de aprovechar al máximo la integración, reducir al mínimo la intrusión y ofreciendo ahorro de energía a través del aislamiento natural. El equipo está investigando la posibilidad de diseñar un edificio que poco a poco emerja de su paisaje circundante, una opción que generará una alta proporción de sus propias necesidades de energía con recursos renovables, así como la captura y tratamiento de toda el agua necesaria en el edificio e incorporar sistemas de energía eficientes para sustituir su 'huella' con un techo verde garantizando un impacto cero sobre la tierra.

VanDusen Botanical Garden, Vancouver's landmark created over 30 years ago, is being redesigned by the selected design team Busby Perkins+Will, in conjunction with internationally renowned landscape architect Cornelia Hahn Oberlander to develop a Master Plan for the Garden.

The new VanDusen Botanical Garden facility design will be a harmonious and fluid addition to the landscape trying to maximize integration, minimize intrusion and offering energy savings through the landscape's natural insulation. The team is investigating the possibility of designing a building that gradually emerges from its surrounding landscape, an option that will generate a high proportion of their own energy needs with renewable resources, as well as the capture and treat all water needed in the building and incorporate energy efficient systems and replace its ‘footprint’ with a green roof to ensure a zero footprint upon the land.
