Su fama se asocia generalmente con la novedad vanguardista.
Desarrolladores de todo el mundo se muestran ansiosos por firmar con "el mejor talento" (starchitects) con la esperanza de convencer a los municipios reacios de aprobar grandes proyectos, o para la obtención de financiación o aumentar el valor de sus edificios.
