The Sharp Centre for Design

El Centro de Diseño de Sharp, que es parte del Ontario College of Art & Design es una remodelación del campus, que se completó en septiembre de 2004. Diseñado por Will Alsop, de Alsop arquitectos, en una empresa conjunta con un despacho establecido en Toronto Robbie / Young + Wright Arquitectos.

Esta estructura única se ha convertido rápidamente en uno de los hitos arquitectónicos más interesantes de Toronto. La notable superestructura en forma de "mesa", adopta la forma de un paralelepípedo (9m de altura, 31m de ancho y 84m de longitud), con llamativa piel pixelada en blanco y negro Esta adición se encuentra 26 metros sobre el nivel del suelo sobre 12 piernas de varios colores, la estructura dispone de dos pisos de espacio de estudio y para la enseñanza y está conectado a la instalación existente debajo por un ascensor y la escalera central que constituye el eje central del nuevo edificio universitario.

*The Sharp Centre for Design which is part of the Ontario College of Art & Design is a campus redevelopment, completed in September 2004. Designed by Will Alsop, of Alsop Architects, in a joint venture with Toronto-based Robbie/Young + Wright Architects.

This unique structure has quickly become one of the most exciting architectural landmarks in Toronto. The remarkable 'table top' superstructure, takes the form of a parallelepiped (9m high, 31m wide and 84m long), with striking black and white pixellated skin. The addition stands 26 metres above the ground on 12 multi-coloured legs, the structure provides two storeys of studio and teaching space and is connected to the existing facility below by an elevator and stair core that forms the central focus of the newly university building.
