El 'Boiler Suit' es el nombre que se da a la fachada ondulada de paneles desmontables de acero inoxidable que envuelven el cuarto de calderas del edificio del Guy's hospital.El cuarto de calderas se encuentra situado enfrente de la entrada del edificio y era necesario que el diseño no perturbara la maquinaria en el interior, permitiendo la ventilación del edificio. Para resaltar la nueva estructura el tejido de malla de acero inoxidable es iluminado por la noche para mostrar sus curvas a los visitantes y el personal.
Terminado en 2007 fue diseñado por el arquitecto y diseñador Inglés Thomas Heatherwick, el edificio no sólo llama la atención, tambien asegura que el cuarto de calderas del hospital está elegantemente protegido.
The 'boiler suit' is the name given to the undulating facade of stainless steel demountable panels encasing the boiler room of Guy's hospital building.
The boiler house is situated in front of the entrance of the building and it was necessary that the design did not disturb the machinery within, allowing the building ventilation. To highlight the new structure the woven of stainless steel braid is illuminated at night to show off its curves to visitors and staff.
Completed in 2007 and designed by English designer and architect Thomas Heatherwick, the building not only catches the eye but ensures the hospital's powerhouse is stylishly protected.
